Michael Cobbs is a lifelong advocate for the people of Kankakee and believes that strong communities are built through honest leadership, economic opportunity, and public service.
As a member of the Kankakee City Council, Michael has worked to support responsible economic development, neighborhood revitalization, housing improvements, and initiatives that attract new businesses and create jobs. He believes local government should be transparent, accountable, and focused on delivering results that improve the daily lives of residents.
Michael also serves as Chairman of the Kankakee County Democratic Central Committee, where he has worked to strengthen the local Democratic Party by encouraging greater civic participation, developing new leaders, and building partnerships throughout the community. He believes progress is achieved when people work together with respect, integrity, and a shared commitment to the future.
Outside of public service, Michael has spent more than 25 years as a REALTOR®, helping families achieve the dream of homeownership while assisting buyers, sellers, and investors throughout the region. His experience in real estate has given him a firsthand understanding of the importance of safe neighborhoods, quality housing, and a strong local economy.
Michael’s priorities include supporting public safety, expanding affordable and quality housing, encouraging responsible business growth, investing in infrastructure, strengthening neighborhoods, and ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to succeed. He is committed to listening to residents, making informed decisions, and putting the interests of the community first.
Michael believes leadership is about showing up, listening, and solving problems. He is running to continue building a stronger, more vibrant Kankakee where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and future generations have every opportunity to succeed.
Together, we can continue moving Kankakee forward.
